We strongly object to this proposed development of the STC club grounds. We will be negatively impacted through noise and disruption in the building phase and then suffer loss of privacy and further noise from the proposed new buildings. For the local community, the impact of additional traffic and strain on already struggling services and utilities will be significantly detrimental. The loss of this green space and facility for health and wellbeing (that Sigma say they want to promote) would be a huge blow as it is well used by all ages.
The alleged benefits given by Sigma are contradictory. There’s no logic in investing £4m in local leisure and recreation facilities, while destroying a perfectly adequate existing facility. They plan to provide a children’s play provision, but many children already enjoy using the exiting playing fields for football and games. This plan with the removal of mature, healthy trees goes against the values of the Mayor of London to promote a greener city and while we agree that new homes are needed, they should not be built at the expense of losing a valued green space
