We foster children who have had lots of problems and trauma already in their short lives. We send these emotionally scarred children to Wyborne school. The side road where the entry gate is located is quiet and protected from traffic during school start and finish times. The children have to learn to be independent and as they get older, we allow them to start practicing their independence by walking the last few yards/ metres on their own. The fact that the road is quiet and not too much traffic helps the children feel safe and they can start to feel more ready to grow and move on to be the children that they should have been.
the grassland and trees on the said site also absorb a lot of the fumes from the heavy traffic of Avery Hill, Footscray Road and other busy roads around the school. With all the extra car fumes from large work trucks and then all the other traffic caused once the new houses were built, the instances of Asthma and other breathing problems in the children will increase tremendously! Local families use this area for fun and recreational facilities, goodness knows that most bits of land are being built on, we need to keep the green areas for water retention and drainage for the rain, there will be flooding if we use all the green spaces! It will also affect things like sewage, the pipes won’t cope with all the extra water and sewage! The schools will not be able to cope with all the extra intake of children meaning that the school would then be over crowded and the students and staff would be overwhelmed and would not be able to carry out their work to the best of their ability. It will also spoil the lovely community feeling of living in New Eltham Village, it will be just like living in a busy, bustling town or city and that is not why we chose to live in this lovely area. Please, I urge you to rethink this awful idea.
