OBJECTION FROM Vikki (SE9 2an)

STC SPORTS CLUB, ELTHAM  - SIGMA STRATEGIC

Protest Against the Proposed Development at STC Sports Club, Eltham

I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed development by Sigma Strategic Land at the STC Sports Club in Eltham. As a local resident, I am deeply concerned about the negative impact this development will have on our community.

Firstly, the loss of green space is a significant issue. The STC Sports Club provides a vital recreational area for local residents, offering a place for sports, leisure, and community gatherings. The proposed development will result in the loss of this valuable green space, which is essential for the well-being and mental health of our community.

Moreover, the development will put additional strain on local services. Our schools, healthcare facilities, and other public services are already operating at full capacity. The influx of new residents will exacerbate this situation, leading to overcrowded schools, longer waiting times for medical appointments, and increased pressure on other essential services.

The impact on local infrastructure, particularly roads and rail stations, is another major concern. The roads in Eltham are already congested, and the additional traffic generated by the new development will only worsen this problem. Furthermore, local rail stations are likely to become overcrowded, making commuting more difficult for current residents.

Additionally, the proposed investment of £4 million in outdoor sports pitches, while commendable, does not adequately compensate for the loss of the existing STC facilities. The new facilities may not be as accessible or convenient for local residents, and the disruption caused during the construction phase will further diminish the quality of life in our community.

It is also important to note that the landowner has previously attempted a similar development a couple of years ago, which was rejected on similar grounds. This current proposal appears to be a shameful attempt to monetise local green space at the expense of local residents. Existing residents will suffer badly from the construction and the loss of privacy of their properties.

Furthermore, the feedback questions being collected by Sigma Strategic Land are not balanced and only serve to highlight the 'perceived' positive aspects of the development rather than truly listening to the concerns of residents. This approach undermines the integrity of the consultation process and fails to address the legitimate concerns of the community. The time and date of their ‘consultation’ is also scheduled at a time where local residents in work are unlikely to be able to attend further impeding our ability to properly respond to their proposal.

In conclusion, I urge you to consider the significant negative impact this development will have on local residents, services, and infrastructure. I respectfully request that you oppose this proposal and advocate for the preservation of our green spaces and the well-being of our community.
